Virtual Try-On Policy

Trevia Shopping's Virtual Try-On feature allows you to digitally preview jewelry, eyewear, hats, and makeup on your face and body using either your live camera or an uploaded photo. This policy explains how we handle your data throughout the try-on experience and our commitment to your privacy.

When you upload a photo for Virtual Try-On:

• Your image is loaded directly into browser memory using the browser's File API.
• AI-powered background removal (@imgly/background-removal) processes the image entirely in your browser using WebAssembly.
• The processed image is used only to render the product overlay preview in your current session.
• Your uploaded image is never transmitted to Trevia Shopping's servers or any third-party service.
• Images uploaded for Virtual Try-On are processed only for generating previews and are not used for identity verification.
• When you close the try-on session or navigate away, the image is cleared from browser memory.

When you use the live camera mode:

• Your camera feed is streamed directly to a <video> element in your browser using the WebRTC getUserMedia API.
• Each video frame is processed in real-time by MediaPipe AI models running entirely in your browser via WebAssembly.
• The AI models detect face landmarks, hand positions, and body poses to accurately position product overlays.
• No video frames are captured, recorded, or sent to our servers at any point during the live session.
• The camera stream is rendered locally and is never recorded by Trevia Shopping.

During your try-on session, the following temporary browser storage is used:

• Browser Memory (RAM): Camera frames and uploaded image data are held in active browser memory only while the try-on is running.
• IndexedDB / Cache API: AI model weights (MediaPipe WASM models and background-removal models) are cached locally to speed up subsequent try-on sessions. No personal photos or camera data are stored here.
• localStorage: May store your selected try-on product (e.g., which necklace is active) so your selection persists within the session. This contains no biometric data.

All personal data in browser memory is cleared when you end your session or close your browser tab.

Our Virtual Try-On uses MediaPipe Face Mesh to detect facial landmarks for accurate overlay positioning. Important facts:

• Face detection runs entirely in your browser — no facial data is sent to our servers.
• We detect facial landmarks (e.g., ear, nose, chin positions) solely to anchor product overlays at the correct location on your face.
• We do not perform facial recognition, biometric identification, or any analysis that could identify you as an individual from your face geometry.
• Face landmark data is not stored, logged, or transmitted at any point.
• Face detection accuracy may vary based on lighting, camera angle, distance from camera, and device hardware capability.

The jewelry try-on (necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets) uses face and hand landmark data to position product images accurately. Please be aware:

• Jewelry overlays are 2D or 3D digital representations of products and may not perfectly replicate the appearance, size, weight, or material texture of the physical item.
• Color accuracy depends on your screen calibration and camera white balance. The actual product color may differ from what you see in the try-on preview.
• Scale and proportion of jewelry overlays are approximate and may vary based on your face/hand geometry detected by MediaPipe.
• Jewelry overlay images are sourced from brand partners or created by our design team for digital preview purposes only.

Our makeup try-on (lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, foundation) uses facial landmark detection to apply digital color overlays to your face. Please note:

• Makeup overlays are rendered using CSS blend modes and canvas compositing in your browser — entirely client-side.
• The rendered makeup appearance is a digital simulation and may not perfectly match how the product appears on your actual skin tone, texture, or in different lighting conditions.
• Skin tone variations may affect color rendering of makeup overlays. Our team continuously works to improve inclusivity across diverse skin tones.
• No skin analysis, skin tone classification, or biometric processing is performed — the overlay is purely cosmetic and visual.

Our core commitment for Virtual Try-On:

• No server transmission of camera data, uploaded photos, or face landmarks.
• No biometric database — we do not build or maintain any biometric profile from your try-on sessions.
• No identity verification — images uploaded for Virtual Try-On are processed only for generating previews.
• No permanent storage of your personal images or camera feed.
• Fully optional — camera permission can always be denied; uploaded photo try-on is always available as an alternative.
